DUMADI

Dumadi, derived from the Javanese word dumadi, meaning “to come into being,” explores the process of transformation through the physical language of forged iron. The sculpture emerged from my interest in how the act of forging can become a reflection of inner transformation—where fire, pressure, repetition, and resistance gradually turn raw material into form. Dumadi ultimately becomes an allegory of creation and becoming. To burn, to bend, to endure, and to transform—the journey of the iron mirrors the journey of the self, where form is not simply given, but gradually discovered through the process of becoming.
